Anybody here has experience using Wine? How reliable is it? I'm considering using Linux (no dual-boot, just linux) for good.

Wine is still alphaware, kaya baka hindi mag-work as you expect it. It works best kapag naka dual-boot ka kasi you may need to mount some .dll files from your windows partitions. Some applications may not work properly on wine or may not run at all. If you do get your windows app to work you will feel a sense of achievement. You may want to follow the builds via CVS para makahabol ka sa weekly bugfixes. Good luck on the transition to linux.

It occurred to me that you may plan to use wine for specific programs that you use. Wine was created for applications that cannot be ported to linux or have no chance of having a counterpart in the open-source environment.
A good place to look for open-source alternatives for your favorite windows based programs would be freshmeat and sourceforge (although they have tons of apps that are ported to windows as well).
For programs like the ones from Adobe and Macromedia, there are no open-source counterparts available, hence the need for wine. Wine is used mostly for gaming as game developers rarely develop games for linux.
