I think it's called laserlock protection.
The exe is looking for optical patterns ng cd pag pinatakbo mo sya.
If you copy the whole cd and not the image to a cd-r, hindi mo mako-kopya ang exact original na cd. You must copy the whole image.

Company : MLS LaserLock International Protection : LaserLock - LaserLok How to Detect : It can be be recognized by a (hidden) directory called LASERLOK which is in the root of the CD. This directory contains files which contain unreadable errors. Backup Solution : Here are a few backup solutions: Use the LL32ICA Generic LaserLock Patch or LaserLock Import Fixer. LL32ICA is a Generic LaserLock Patcher which is able to remove the LaserLock protection. Currently it fully supports LaserLock v4.03.x, LaserLock 4.05.x and LaserLock 5.00.x and maybe it also supports other versions! BlindRead & DDump both support this CD protection as long as the CD-Reader supports RAW (MMC DAO RAW) mode reading. It is also possible to copy the unreadable files using a HexEditor. This way all readable parts of the file are copied to a file. Protected : Asghard Fallout 2 Icewind Dale Jagged Alliance 2 Messiah Metro Police Outcast Shogo SpecOps Protection Info Laserlock uses a combination of encryption software and unique laser marking on the CD surface made during the special LaserLock mastering procedure, in order to make copying practically impossible. Every CD-ROM application has a unique locking parameter that provides a complete protection against illegal re-mastering and reproduction. LaserLock offers excellent protection for every application as each application package is characterized by a unique encryption parameter that is specified during LaserLocking procedure. courtesy of: htt*://ww*.cdmediaworld.com/hardware/cdrom/cd_protections_laserlock.shtml
